COURSE OVERVIEW – The B.S in Public Administration is designed for students interested in the formation of public policy, the government, and the practice of public sector management among many other areas of the interface between the public and private sectors.

COURSE DESCRIPTION – The curriculum combines key elements of business administration, economics, and political science. Students study the management of governmental organizations, the art and science of public budgeting, and the design and implementation of effective public policies. The program is ideally suited for students who enjoy economics, politics, and business administration, but who also have strong interest in public policy and public service.

LEARNING OUTCOME – With a Public Administration degree, students will have the skills and knowledge to:
• Develop a solid foundation in theories, concepts, and practices relevant to public administration and its sub-fields.
• Acquire critical thinking and problem-solving skills that can be applied in the public service realm.
• Communicate effectively in oral and written discourse with diverse workforces and the public.
• Demonstrate the management, legal, ethical, and behavioral skills necessary for effective job performance and career mobility in public administration.
• Understand the process of policy analysis, engage in policy development, and advocate for change.
• Assess knowledge and experience of ethics and integrity in public service and reflect on ways to incorporate public service values in administering agencies, policies, and programs.
• Engage diverse stakeholders and utilize effective communication to collaborate and engage them in public service.
• Influence public policy and governance systems by understanding their development and contributing to effective and efficient governance.
