COURSE OVERVIEW – The Industrial Relations and Management program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the relationships between employers and employees within industrial organizations. It explores the various aspects of these relationships and aims to equip students with analytical skills for recognizing, defining, and solving problems in industrial relations and personnel management. It also focuses on developing leadership and interpersonal relations skills necessary for effectively managing people in diverse work environments.
Students will learn about the different perspectives and approaches to industrial relations, including the legal framework, social dialogue, collective bargaining, and the promotion of social rights. They will also gain insights into the challenges and current debates surrounding employment matters, equipping them to engage knowledgeably as managers, employees, and citizens.
COURSE DESCRIPTION – The curriculum offers a comprehensive study of the social and psychological aspects of industrial relations, a broader context in which relationships between management and trade unions, as well as the relationships among workers themselves operate.
Students will gain knowledge necessary for understanding and analyzing issues related to managing people in various organizational settings, including industrial, commercial, public, and humanitarian organizations. The course aims to develop students innovativeness, implementing, and controlling human resource and industrial relations policies and practices. Students will develop analytical skills for recognizing, defining, and solving problems in industrial relations and personnel management. They will also enhance their leadership and interpersonal relations skills necessary for effectively managing people in diverse work environments.
LEARNING OUTCOME – With an industrial relations and management degree students will
• have a comprehensive understanding of the relationships between employers and employees within industrial organizations, including the dynamics of management and trade unions.
• develop analytical skills to recognize, define, and solve problems related to industrial relations and personnel management.
• learn negotiation techniques and conflict resolution strategies to effectively manage disputes and maintain harmonious relationships in the workplace.
• acquire knowledge of employment laws and regulations that govern the employment relationship, including understanding the impact of legal frameworks on industrial relations
• gain insights into the social and psychological aspects of industrial relations, as well as the broader social and economic contexts in which these relationships operate.
