COURSE OVERVIEW – The Health care management undergraduate degree allows students who are passionate about healthcare to enter the marketplace with a level of tech-driven professional experience that meets current industry standards. Students learn how to provide competent nursing care to culturally diverse clients in a changing and complex healthcare environment.
COURSE DESCRIPTION – The curriculum integrates nursing science, humanities, behavioral and physical sciences as a basis for safe nursing practice including clinical reasoning, critical thinking and judgment. Students will also cultivate professional development by making a commitment to life-long learning professional activities and safely utilize information technologies to promote optimal patient care.
LEARNING OUTCOME – With a degree in Health Care Management, graduates will have the skills and knowledge to:
• Utilize effective communication strategies to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide patient-centered care
• Apply basic organizational and systems leadership for quality care, ethical practice and patient safety
• Evaluate the health policy, regulation and payment process for the improvement of health care for all
• Integrate research, ethical principles and patient preference into clinical decision making through evaluative nursing practice.
• Examine healthcare, financial, and regulatory policies that influence the practice of professional nursing and access to care and promote advocacy for consumers and the profession.
