DURATION – 48months

COURSE OVERVIEW – The Curriculum provides graduates with skills specific to developing and supervising young children. Students will be prepared with the best teaching and learning strategies to teach students who have special challenges: autism, developmental delays, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, severe and profound intellectual disabilities and other exceptionalities. Courses focus on topics such as, assistive technology, autism, behavior management, assessment, working with parents and families and high incidence disabilities. They'll learn about child development, relationships, behavior and diversity.

COURSE DESCRIPTION – The B.sc in Early Childhood Education program prepares students to provide early intervention, care and education for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergarten children with and without disabilities and their families. The program includes courses in early childhood special education, child development, early childhood, and professional education.

LEARNING OUTCOME – With an Early Childhood Education degree, students will be able to:
• Gain a strong foundation in child development theories and principles.
• Implement developmentally appropriate approaches, instructional strategies, and tools to positively influence each child's development and learning.
• create and maintain safe and healthy play environments, guide behavior, plan and implement learning activities, and work cooperatively with staff and parents.
• Understand the importance of partnerships with children's families and communities in successful early childhood education.
• Communicate effectively with children, families, and colleagues in oral and written form.
• Advance cultural competence to enhance interactions with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Demonstrate professionalism in the field of early childhood education and provide ethical leadership.
• Understand the importance of play in early childhood education and utilize play as an educational tool.
