Welcome to Highstone International University
Undergraduate Program
DURATION – 48months
COURSE OVERVIEW – Students will learn to navigate, model, visualize, summarize, and communicate with data within a vibrantly interdisciplinary, collaborative environment.
The BS degree program in data science prepares students to be critical analysts and users of data in a variety of areas such as business, research and government.
COURSE DESCRIPTION – The curriculum for Data Science degree encompasses both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in data analysis, statistics, programming, and machine learning. Students will acquire the necessary techniques to clean, transform, and visualize data in order to derive meaningful insights and effectively communicate their findings. They will also delve into various methodologies for uncovering patterns, relationships, and valuable insights from extensive datasets. Additionally, students will develop an understanding of the ethical considerations and legal implications associated with working with data, including privacy protection, security measures, and the avoidance of bias. The program will culminate in the application of acquired knowledge and skills to real-world data science projects, wherein students will work with authentic datasets and tackle practical problems.
LEARNING OUTCOME – With a degree in Data Science, graduates will have the skills and knowledge to:
• Collect, manage, interpret, and analyze data in order to assist in data-driven decision-making and to identify and solve problems using data-based analytical approaches.
• Use statistical software packages and computational software platforms to execute various statistical and mathematical procedures for data analysis and to sanitize, process, and visualize data.
• Employ suitable tools and techniques to access data from various sources, such as data from relational databases or from the web.
• Critique data analyses performed on a particular data set, identify limitations in the inferences drawn from the data, and effectively communicate, in verbal form, the results
